THE PROJECT

From an idea
to an experience.

An independently developed industrial operations platform combining operator reports, supervisor handovers, maintenance ownership, shutdown preparation, parts requirements and machine-level fault intelligence in a connected workflow.

PROJECT TYPEIndependent product project
MY ROLEIndependent product strategy, UX, architecture and software development
PROJECT STAGEActive product development with interactive sandbox; no live mill historian integration
WHO IT IS FORSawmills, manufacturers, plant managers, reliability teams and maintenance planners
THE CHALLENGE

Make the idea
make sense.

Industrial teams capture valuable information in operator reports, shift notes, maintenance records, parts lists and machine alarms. When these records live in separate places, recurring downtime is difficult to explain and ownership between shifts can become unclear.

THE APPROACH

Consider every
interaction.

I designed MillFlow around the complete path from operator observation to supervisor triage, trade ownership, planning and management review. Alongside the workflow, a statistical intelligence layer explores machine events, recurring faults, abnormal sensor behavior, reliability patterns and potential production impact. Its interactive sandbox uses representative test data. Connection to real historians, camera systems and mill workflows remains a separate, site-specific integration and validation step.

INSIDE THE PROJECT

What the experience
actually does.

A closer look at the workflows and design decisions behind this independently developed project.

01

Fault intelligence

Review machine-event timelines, fault recurrence, statistical outliers, reliability signals and modeled production impact to prioritize investigations.

02

Operator to maintenance

Capture issues on the floor, route them through supervisor triage and trade ownership, and track follow-up to resolution or planned work.

03

Shutdown and parts planning

Organize deferred repairs into work packages, compare parts requirements with availability, and coordinate staffing and shutdown preparation.

04

Shift reporting and handover

Keep timestamped events, equipment restrictions, open issues and next actions visible to the incoming crew.

05

Historian and camera context

Design for linking alarms, sensor trends and camera time windows to incidents when approved facility integrations are available.

06

Management decision support

Bring recurring losses, high-attention assets and work status into dashboards that connect analysis with accountable next steps.
